American Heart Association (AHA) - Basic Life Support (BLS) Course

The AHA’s BLS course trains participants to:

  • Recognize life-threatening emergencies
  • Perform high-quality chest compressions
  • Deliver ventilations using pocket masks and bag-valve masks (BVM)
  • Provide early use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Relieve choking in adult and pediatric patients

This training reflects the latest science from the AHA Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

BLS Provider Manual

 

This is an instructor-led course that includes:

  • Simulated clinical scenarios and hands-on learning stations
  • Skills practice and testing with an AHA BLS Instructor
  • A 25-question multiple-choice written exam

Important Registration Information

  • You must use your own personal email and cellphone number when registering. This is required to receive and claim your AHA eCard.
  • Arrive early — instruction begins promptly at the scheduled time. Late arrivals may not be admitted.
  • Check your confirmation email for payment instructions and course details.
